Lola T70 by Top Slot. In Sunoco and BonGrip
colours
The Top Slot body is quite superb, it was designed
to go on the MRRC plastic chassis (I hear you grimace!) and that is what
I used. I would have preferred to put it on EJ's Monogram
clone but they are getting a bit expensive nowadays. The decal set it
comes with is excellent, the Penske Sunoco car as raced by Mark Donahue.
I had to buy two (like you do!) as the body shape is so good and made
the first car as standard. The most difficult bit was the wheels so
check out on the modellers tips section how I did them (click the "wheels" link
above).
The second car was done in the Joe Bonnier BonGrip
colours. The body was painted yellow and then the fun began. A thick white
stripe was cut from decal sheet and applied, followed
by the numbering. The numbers came from Fly's Ferrari 512S (the one with
the separate decal sheet). Perfect. The Bon Grip decals were made by simply
getting the most suitable typeface in Microsoft Word, printing the right
size and then printing onto decal paper. The decals were applied and then
the top and bottom lines were added. The red stripe was then added and
finally the whole lot was sprayed over with clear laquer.
