The third series of Pre-Add bodyshells picks up the theme at the start of the 2.5 litre formula by Mac Pinches

KIT 16. Ferrari increased the capacity of its 2.0 litre car to 2.5 litre and it was called the Ferrari 625. The design was a little dated but it still took first place in some of the races. The kit depicts the final development of this car.

KIT 17. While the 625 held the fort, great effort was made to make the 553 and 555 cars competitive, but they only achieved one win, The Squalos where never a great success but the kit does however make an interesting model. The kit depicts the car as run at Monza driven by Castellotti .

KIT 18. depicts the Lancia D50. Possibly the most advanced car design of this period but it lacked development and had a slow gestation period. It only lasted for 2 years and never showed its full potential. With the lack of resources and the death of Ascari, the whole team was handed over to Ferrari. To my mind this is the most stiking looking GP cars ever built and it is a must for any model car collection.

KIT 19. The Mercedes W196 won two Constructors titles and two World Drivers Championships in two years with the two best drivers of the period; a hard act to follow . This kit depicts the car in its open wheel design of 1955.

KIT 20. The final car of this set is the 250f Maserati ,one of the prettest front engined classical GP cars ever built. Driven by every one who was anyone in this period, scoring many wins, and still seen today at retro meeting taking on the best. This kit depicts the mid point of the 250F's development, the 1956 car.

This series marks the end of the front engined classics. The next series will be marked by begining of the rear engined revolution.

The pictures below show the kits made up; at the bottom of this page is a picture illustrating what each kit comprises of. The kit format remains as in the first series i.e. they are 1/32nd scale and made of resin. They come complete with decals, driver, metal cast exhausts, filler caps etc. Improvements in the decals have been made as these were produced by Mark Gussin to his usual high standards.
